Tell Us Your Best Mother-Daughter Story
Win a Free “Because I Said So” DVD and $300!
We’re delighted to announce, in conjunction with Universal Studios Home Entertainment, the “Tell Us Your Best Mother-Daughter Story” contest.
What daughter doesn’t have a story (or two) to tell about growing up with mom?
In celebration of Mother’s Day, we’d like to hear those stories! The three winning “mother-daughter” stories will be published on our Web site - and we’ve got a few prizes to hand out too!
The Contest
Just tell us in 500 words or less your favorite story about Mom - something special, heroic, or just plain sweet, that your mother did for you when you were growing up.

Three stories, chosen by our staff, will be published on our Web site.
Our story writers will also receive cash prizes and receive a free copy of the soon-to-be-released “Because I Said So” DVD, from Universal Studios Home Entertainment.
Stories will be judged on the basis of their overall appeal, uniqueness and quality of writing.
Entries must be received through our Web site by Friday, May 4, 2007.
Selected stories will be posted Monday, May 7.
Prizes will be mailed Monday, May 7. Cash prizes will come from Mother’s Day Central. DVD’s will be forwarded directly from Universal Studios Home Entertainment.
Awards
Additionally, courtesy of our friends at Universal Studios, the first 15 people to submit their qualifying mother-daughter story will receive a free copy of the “Because I Said So” DVD. So get your submission in early!
Only legitimate story submissions will be considered. Winning stories will be selected by our staff. All decisions are final. Stories must be submitted by individuals 18 and older. Also, while this contest is mainly for daughters, if any of you sons out there really want to share a story about mom, feel free! Your entries will be given equal consideration.

A very friendly and not entirely unattractive FedEx guy just delivered a package that I was sure was my eagerly anticipated severence check (sigh… menopausal mom/writer seeking employment!), but no! It was a lone “Because I Said So” DVD in a huge padded envelope. No confetti exploding from the envelope, nor even an accompanying note, but the optimist in me says that maybe — just maybe — I won perhaps third place? I’ve scoured your website for some indication about winners, but can’t find anything.
So…. did I? Did I win big? Or small? My husband (the realist) doesn’t want me to get my hopes up and says that they probably sent everyone a DVD.
I think self-proclaimed realists are actually pessimists in disguise. Don’t you?

When I was a little wee-one (as my mother called me) I adored pumpkin pie. It was rich and creamy and filled my satisfaction. And as the only girl of the family my mother treated me with a tad bit more respect than my 2 other brothers. And because of this respect I got what I wanted. So I would ask for a pumpkin pie and “mommy dearest” would of course make it! Well by now i was 7 my mom had out baked herself. So one night we invited our friends from armenia to come over for dinner. Now they were completely forign to our costums and food. And that evening my mother had made a pumpkin pie. Well I’m not exactly sure what happened but i think my mother didn’t put in enough arm into the wisking of the eggs. So the father of out forign family had the first slice of pie. Well did he get the short end of the straw!!! He got the piece where an egg yolk was raw and whole! He didn’t know this was not right. So he rapidly shoved it down but did not swallow. His stomach didn’t let him swallow without dry heaving! So it slushed out of his mouth. My family and i were soooooooo embarrassed and sickened as you can imagine. And from this day i absoulutly HATE pumpkin pie!

I love my mom!
My mom has done so much for my family, she need to know how special she really is.My 15 yr. old son has battled cancer for 2 yrs. And my mother did everything in her power to help us keep our head up during this time , she has missed alot of work to stay with us at the hospital, she has went thru all of the pain and suffering with us, and help us keep our faith. My son passed away last year on his fathers birthday April 1st, and we are just lost without him. He is still the love of our lives, my son was my mother and my best friend, and we dont know what to do without him. My mom still worries about my husband and myself, and I would like to show her how greatful we are to have her.
