Memorial Mother's Day Poems

In memory of Mom. Nothing is harder on a family than a Mother's Day just after Mom has passed. Soothe your siblings with a poetic reminder of the wonderful woman who nurtured you for so many years...

"Death can't be so bad if mom went through it.
It makes it easier for the child to follow."

- Danny Aiello

97. Your Mother is Always With You – Deborah R Culver

When you need mom most, don't forget she's still a part of you.

She’s the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street.

She’s the smell of certain foods you remember, flowers you pick, the fragrance of life itself.

She’s the cool hand on your brow when you’re not feeling well.

She’s your breath in the air on a cold winters’ day.

She is the sound of the rain that lulls you to sleep, the colors of a rainbow.

She is Christmas morning.

Your mother lives inside your laughter.

She’s the place you come from, your first home.

She’s the map you follow with every step you take.

She’s your first love, your first friend, even your first enemy.

But nothing on Earth can separate you.

Not time.

Not space.

Not even death.

98. My Rock, My Mom – Anonymous

When you just can't express how much you miss her...

Sometimes I catch myself
Thinking, "When I phone,
I can talk of this or that!"
Then remember, I'm alone.
She was always there
To answer my calls -
To listen to my "small talk"
Or when I climbed the walls.
At times, I didn't feel like talking
And somehow, she understood -
Didn't say she wished I'd call
Or make me feel like I should.
Now, I wish I would have
More times, to show I cared -
To say, just how important
Were, all those times we shared.
I could have shown my love
So much more than I did -
I never, did it enough
Even when I was a kid.
Now it's too late to do or say
All those things I wish I had -
No way to ease the pain inside
When my heart is sad.
She was my "anchor" to this life -
The "rock", that I clung to -
The place, where I could turn
When, nowhere else would do.
Now, the ravages of time
Have worn my "rock" away -
And all I have to cling to
Are memories of yesterday.

99. Memories and Mother - Mary R. Hurley

Focusing on the happy, littlest of good memories.

When Mother came to our room
To tuck us in at night,
Her face would look so gentle
In the soft, bedside light.
And though we may not always
Have behaved our best that day,
She'd let us know she loved us
In a very special way:
An extra fold to the coverlet,
A little pat, a hug,
And we'd settle down to dreamland
Feeling safe and snug.
And of all the childhood memories
That there have ever been,
We love best to recall the times
When Mother tucked us in.

100. Remembering the loss of a mother - Joanna Fuchs

Heartfelt affection and longing in memory of mom.

Mom, we miss you so very much
On every Mother's Day;
And not just then, but every minute,
Since you went away.

101. In Passing – Anonymous

A soothing reminder that your mom will always be with you.

Sometimes Mom in passing
Would pat you on the back
And sometimes in passing
She'd show you the right track.
Sometimes Mom in passing
Would say, "You sure look nice!"
And sometimes in passing
She could, make you, think twice.
Sometimes Mom in passing
Would lightly touch your hair
And sometimes in passing
She'd show you what was fair.
Sometimes Mom in passing
Would ask, "What do you mean?"
And sometimes in passing
She would get in between.
Sometimes Mom in passing
Would give you, "that look"
And sometimes in passing
Would give you what it took.
But this time, Mom is passing
From this world to the best
And this time in passing
She'll pass the final test.
And when Mom has passed
And the pain is so unkind
Just look and you'll find her
There in your heart and mind.
